I didn't buy the Altima because of the push button. I asked and they said that was the only way to start it. I didn't want to be stranded for any malfunction with the push button. I bought a Camry instead.

all the responses are true on the inteli key but the 07 altimas have the push button start where there is no place for a key to go it is not the same as the intelli key. check with a sales man at nissan he will be able to explain it. you could even talk to a sales man on the phone just ask him what the back up for the push button start is.

Open the door with the mechanical key in the intelligent remote then. You place the key fob into the slot left of the steering wheel and start by braking and pushing the start button. Then you get a new battery for the remote. Nissan has you covered you did not think that they did not? Any time you need mechanical keys programed or valet key done please come on over to your Nissan dealer..

Every intelligent key that I've seen has a small key hidden in the remote fob if it is radio wave operated. If all fails, you simply insert the key and start the vehicle the normal way. Ask the Nissan salesperson for a demonstration. Normally, this would be shown to you at the time of delivery. Good luck!
