kings asked: I was searching for a UPS for my computer and found one which says 1000W / 2000VA, DC 24V
This means connecting 2 x 12V batteries in series. My question is don’t UPS usually have batteries connected in parallel rather than series ?
Does connecting it in series or parallel affect the backup time ?
What are the advantages and disadvantaged of either setup (regarding UPS battery) ?
Thanks
If I do get it I’ll have to buy the batteries as a separate buy.
and connect them up myself. So how does connecting in series affect (if at all ) backup time compare to parallel and does connecting in series or parallel reveal the type or quality of the UPS ?

Speedy asked: The Internal Battery on my HP iPAQ Model 3955 died and I just ordered a replacement battery online. QUESTION#1: Is it relatively easy to open the back of the iPAQ and replace the battery? When my battery died on me, the soft sync didn’t work and charging the iPAQ on the cradle dien’t work - in short, it would’nt even light up when I hit the POWER button, QUESTION # 2: Will my data still be on my iPAQ?
QUESTION # 3: Any other Windows based handheld devices or even the HP iPAQ one - that has a removable Memory Card/ Memory Stick that you can just remove, inset into your laptop and do BACKUP/ Sync your data that way instead of what I’m doing now, which is download the software first onto EACH AND EVERY computer or laptop I want to Sync/ Bankup the data on my iPAQ with, then carry this heavy, cumbersome Sync Cradle with me, connect it between computer/laptop and iPAQ and wait hours for it to Sync.
I would prefer to get a Windows based Handheld and I will NOT be using it as a cell

07_ShelbyGT500 asked: I understand there either has been or will be a mandate by the FCC that Wireless Base Transmission Stations will need to have 8 hours of power backup, possibly in the form of battery backup. This recommendation came out of Review of the Impact of Hurricane Katrina on Communications Networks.
I’m trying to find out if that “8 Hour Battery Backup” was either a recommendation or some sort of an official mandate/ruling from the FCC?
I was able to find this document on the FCC website, but its just the write-up of the Review. It doesn’t specify what any rulings or mandates might have been.
http://www.fcc.gov/eb/Orders/2006/FCC-06-83A1.html
Thanks.

Stacy J asked: Hi! I have an Olympus cam which uses a lithium ion 42B proprietary battery. Anyway, since I don’t like the idea of having just one battery pack, especially for long trips, I saved up for another one. Unfortunately, the nearest convenience store only sold a generic one. It’s made by this company called SDV. The dealer gave me their website: http://www.swisscophoto.com.sg/battery.htm
Anyway, just would like to know if there are any negative effects of putting non-Olympus batteries in an Olympus cam? I mean I’ll only use this as backup (i.e. when my primary runs out of juice and at least my camera stays active while it’s being charged) so I already know that it won’t be as powerful as an original battery.
Other disadvantages?
Thanks

JC asked: Hi
I have a question about using the Sealed Acid Battery 12V 20AH (S)
and Smart Charger (3.0 A) for 12V Lead Acid Battery
“http://www.batteryspace.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=2799″ at the same time. My question is, I have a device that needs backup power and normal wall power. Can i just connect the battery and the smart charger together to power up my device? I mean when the wall power is provided, the battery will keep charging and discharging to give out 12V for my device. When the wall power is not provided, the battery will discharge for 20Ah. When the battery already discharges 50% and wall power is suddenly provided, does the battery still gives out 12V during charging time?
The loads are 3 different devices.
1) Microcontroller 12V 500mA
2) Sensor_1 9V 100mA
3) Sensor _2 9V 100mA
