I have five smoke alarms in my house connected to my power and they also each have 8 volt battery backup. Randomly all my smoke alarms will go off for about 5 seconds. Sometimes it happens several times a day and some times it will take a couple of weeks before it does it again.

I did clean as much dust as I could from the housing and I change the batteries about once a year. The smoke alarms do go off when we accidently burn something in the oven, which means they work.

Any Ideas on why they go off when there is no smoke? It is getting quite annoying, especially when they go off like 5 times a day.

Ok, When I shut down my computer, the clock stays the same time it had when shut down, I’m supposing it’s the CMOS battery because I’ve had this computer for about 5 years and never happened that. I’ve opened my CPU and the battery it has is a Coin-like battery. I know there are like 4 different types (external, barrel, coin, and a box ). But I want to know if all coin-like CMOS batteries are the same and compatible.

Also, I was wondering if changing this battery is urgent, becuase I noticed this problem about 3 days now.

I know that if I wait too long to replace my BIOS setting will screw up, so I’ll make backup.

I opened the CPU again and the number the battery has is: CR2032

One more question…Does the Voltage changes? because my CR2032 battery doesn’t say.

I bought a brand new Model F5D8231-4 router 3 weeks ago for $200 and it’s been a nightmare. First, the software CD that came with it was made for a wireless N card so the driver didn’t work. That resulted in a 45 minute telephone call to their customer service in Bangladesh or somwhere because the expert help couldn’t understand a word I was saying, and vice versa. I got the driver downloaded and they agreed after 2 more calls to send me a software CD. It arrived today and it wouldn’t open, no matter what.

On top of all that, this router goes down about 3-4 times a day. The modem light starts blinking orange and the internet light goes out altogether. There’s been no power outages and this thing’s plugged into my battery backup. My wife likes to play cards on the Yahoo Euchre site on her Inspiron and she’s been knocked off constantly. I called them today and got another 45 minute runaround. Is this a symptom of this model or am I just unlucky?
