Battery Back Up For A Generator? Does It Exist? I Want Something That Keeps Power On During Power Outage?

battery back up
Crystal F asked:

Does anyone know of some kind of equipment that makes a generator kick on immediately? I want something that makes a store lose power for no more than a second. Something like a battery back up that attaches to the generatorI have been told that this exists and am looking for it for a job my company is doing and I have been able to find no info on it. Even if someone knows the name of it that would help. I got in touch with a guy and he said it does exist and he was going to get me some more info but I have never heard back from him after 4 days and 20 messages..lol! Someone please help me so I dont get chewed by my boss!!!
Thanks for all the help so far! Does Racto Panel ring a bell with anyone? Thats the term someone told my boss but I was unable to find anything with that name. The want something that kicks on right away, like say maybe the lights blink and thats it. They want it to be able to stay on long enough for the generator to kick on.

    It is called seamless power…

    Look at cumminspower.com

I have worked in the casino industry and large scale set-ups like this are a necessity for the gaming floor.

Even for a residential system for a single home is going to be very expensive $30K — plus.

Only problem with what you want is that the genset has to be either already running or it has to be started. If it is already running then you are burning fuel unecessarily. I found this site and don’t know if this will work but it has 2 gensets in it - if the first one fails the second one automatically kicks in. If you speak to an electrician, he should be able to wire it in so that if there is an outage then this will automatically kick in but then again the genset has to be already operating. May be an option just to run the store directly off of the gensets as well. Good luck.

Lowe’s sells one that hooks up to natural gas or propane. I saw it on HGTV and my neighbor has one. It sits outside in a big metal box and kicks on as necessary.
