Battery problem?
atti asked:
My Punto 01 won’t start. The display says that the battery is down, but I tried charging it from another car, and it still wont work. Anyone know what the problem might be?

Battery connections or starter jumbobret

Usually a starter goes out over a period of days or weeks, making a whining noise and needing several tries before the car will start. Has that been happening? If so, the starter finally went and needs to be replaced, along with the solenoid (they usually are in one piece, anyway.)
Did you notice the battery light being on while you were driving, before it quit? If so, then it looks as though you need a new alternator, or else the battery connections may have just gotten corroded and need cleaning with a $2.50 battery terminal brush from WalMart or the auto parts store. (Try that before the new alternator or battery or starter, of course.)
Did you maintain the jumper connection for several minutes (5-10 min.) to see if the battery would accept a charge enough to start? If so, and if it still wouldn’t even crank, you probably need a new battery.
A large auto parts store, like Auto Zone or Advance Auto or Pep Boys, will probably test your battery and alternator for free, if you can carry them there.
