Can a surge protector damage my Corsair 1000 PSU in any way?

    take a copper wire and connect it to the screw in the faceplate of the outlet, then connect the other end to a copper cold water pipe. Take a two prong adapter and also connect it to the wire, that will create a grounded outlet.
