battery backup
mdrali2001 asked:

hi
here a good friend of mine suggested an interesting thing about UPS.

he said that wee can take two wires from UPS and connect them with a big BATTERY and it will give us backup for more then 6 hour’s.

my question is can it be possible for 12.v UPS to charge a big BATTERY.
if yes then how much time it will take to charge it ?

any other suggestions from your side to use ups with big BATTERY in the place of inverter.

warm regards
Ali

ali yes the ups will charge a large battery but as they are a trickle charge it will take at least 4 days Warren

That depends on how much bigger the big battery is compared to the internal battery. A UPS is designed to recharge it’s internal battery in about 24 hours. So a bigger battery will take even longer. Several days, maybe up to a week. You may have to charge the big battery externally, with it’s own charger. The charger in the UPS will then maintain the charge. Gordon

That could help especially if you have the compatible one with your UPS. The time it takes in charging depends on the how large is your battery as well as its lasting time. Anne
