Can my APC battery backup be used for amplifications?

Try it. My bet is that the amp will sound awful when it’s running off the backup. Connect the amp to the battery backup, test it, and then unplug the UPS from the wall. I bet you will hear all kinds of humming and buzzing. The problem is that your battery backup does not produce a pure sign wave and the impurities will leak into the audio. JoelKatz

Hi,
If you have a bigger UPS you should be able to back up your guitar amp. If you have a small unit like a Back-UPS it probably won’t work, you’ll overload the unit. If you have a Smart-UPS 1000 or something bigger you should be able to protect the amp and perhaps even give it some run time. MikeBigMike
