Can regular AA batteries be brought on board a plane?

I have an iPod battery backup that will let me listen on a long flight, but it takes AA batteries and I want to bring extra batteries in case they run out. Will the screeners let me bring them on board?

    yes you can bring the batteries they are not on the list.

    yes, the batteries will be fine. i have brought many batteries over seas in the last 3 months and no one has stopped me.
    the only thing they ask you is if they are a laptop battery. which they clearly aren’t
