Cannon S2IS Shutter won’t open?

battery backup
jphillip28 asked:

It isn’t under warrenty anymore and I don’t have the cash to have it fixed. When you turn in on the screen is black, but it isn’t the screen because you can look at previos pictures. When I take a picture and I am looking into the lense I can’t see the shutter move, I have looked at another S2IS that works and I could see it. Does anyone know how to fix this, if it is fixable. Also, I did try to reset it by taking out the batteries and the backup battery and draining all power. Still doesn’t work. Thanks…

Back-up all your photos to your computer, and then format your memory card *with the camera*. That may solve your problem.

If not, you may need a new camera. The S2 IS is a nice camera, but alas it is a consumer model non-SLR Canon, which are prone to breaking (Nikon too), save some cash and get a Panasonic or Sony compact, or a Nikon, Pentax, or Sony DSLR.

it might be on its last legs. the cost to repair is will exceed the price of a new camera. sorry
