We have a small business where we run a PC register (Win 2000). We installed an APC battery backup (model ES 550) recently, and ever since then we’ve had problems with the PC shutting down, even when ythe business has power in the store. I tried uninstalling the PowerChute software and returning the PC to the native Windows power management, but that didn’t seem to help. Any thoughts?

How likely is data corruption and data loss to occur if you enable write caching (optimize for performance) on an external hard drive? Do the benefits outweigh the risks? I know power loss is a major concern. I do not have my external or my PC hooked up to a battery backup. Power outages do happen once in a blue moon. Is this something to worry over when it comes to enabling write caching? Or is it just a small chance that data corruption could happen?

It seems like the external causes my PC to lag when logging on, so I am hoping that if I optimize it for performance this will help as well as making data transfer a little quicker. Any insights would be great.

i have an old UPS rated around 500VA. It uses a 12V 7.5Ah sealed lead acid battery.? I have a 12V 250Ah car battery also. Can I replace my UPS battery with car battery. I’ve heared that it may cause come problem with the charger. If I can not replace the battery can I use the car battery by charging externally?.
