I don’t have their phone service and if the power goes out, I wont need it. I have disconnected the battery (dated about 3 years old). All I want to do is stop it from beeping. Thanks.
Sorry I wasn’t more clear in my original question. The battery died after a little over 2 years. That is why I disconnected it. Verizon has told me that battery replacement is the customer’s responsibility. The tech reccomended that I pick one up at RadioShack. Thanks for your response. If I had a UPS to power my router, at least I could still use my laptop during a blackout. But the truth is my power almost never goes out. So I either need to fork over $30-40 for a new battery of see if I can rip out the alarm from the device.

Bob T asked: I have a connection that I need to keep on constantly and I was wondering how I could ensure my hub stays on in the event of a power failure.
Any Ideas?
Thanks in advance

christianpeterpumpkineater asked: I’ve recently got rid of my server cabinet. I used to have an APC Rackmount UPS mounted in the bottom. I now have it sat under a desk, but would like to tidy things up and stand it next to my servers, on it’s side.
Does anybody know if it’s OK to stand it on it’s side? Will it affect/harm the batteries?

live4lax364 asked:
If my house loses power, would a router or computer connected via ethernet cable still be able to connect to the internet? I was wondering if a power loss affected that connection? Say if I put a router on battery backup, connected with an ethernet cable, could I still have wifi?
There were a variety of answers, so I thought I might add, I have my full computer system on battery backup, so backing up the router by battery is a given. Simply, with the router still on, would I still have wifi?

david b asked: I bought a brand new Model F5D8231-4 router 3 weeks ago for $200 and it’s been a nightmare. First, the software CD that came with it was made for a wireless N card so the driver didn’t work. That resulted in a 45 minute telephone call to their customer service in Bangladesh or somwhere because the expert help couldn’t understand a word I was saying, and vice versa. I got the driver downloaded and they agreed after 2 more calls to send me a software CD. It arrived today and it wouldn’t open, no matter what.
On top of all that, this router goes down about 3-4 times a day. The modem light starts blinking orange and the internet light goes out altogether. There’s been no power outages and this thing’s plugged into my battery backup. My wife likes to play cards on the Yahoo Euchre site on her Inspiron and she’s been knocked off constantly. I called them today and got another 45 minute runaround. Is this a symptom of this model or am I just unlucky?

The cable co. offered to bundle internet, phone and cable but living in Florida, with hurricanes we sometimes lose all electricity. The agent assured me that I could still use a landline corded phone with a battery backup. I don’t know whether to believe him. Does the cable co. have access to the telephone lines.
