Joe asked:

I will be attending Ohio State university this fall and I am planning on buying a new laptop and i have a major dilemma.

I am stuck choosing between battery life and power. I would love to get a high end i7 with better graphics, but I don’t want to have to live with an hour and a half of battery life.

So My QUESTION IS… How many continuous hours do you really use your laptop in college? Do I need 4 or more hours or battery life or can I get by with 2?

Eric H asked:

Hey everybody, thanks for any responses. My laptop recently stopped working. It’s some sort of battery problem. The problem is, I don’t know whether it is with the battery pack or battery charger. I was wondering if there was some way to tell which one???

It’s out of warranty and the manufacturer wanted to charge me $35 for troubleshooting or drive 85 miles to troubleshoot at one of their locations.

Thanks

I’ve heard the older 2006 models had problems with the battery’s thermal expansion, causing the bottom of the laptop to warp and shutdown randomly. Do the latest macbooks still have this problem with the battery?

Whenever I move the cursor over the battery icon on my screen, it will say “plugged in, charging”. However, the battery charge never goes past 2-3%. I had to get a new AC adapter when my old one quit working, and this still hasn’t solved the problem. Do I need to replace the battery? I’m hoping that there isn’t a bad connection in the motherboard. The laptop is a Dell Inspiron 1545.

Is removing the battery from a MacBook and using the wall charger a good idea?

I use my MacBook indoors and I want to use it without worrying about battery life. Should I take out the battery and just use the wall charger? Some say plugging the laptop in WITH the battery is harmful, some say fully exhausting/fully recharging is harmful — theres no consensus! I would like to email apple support but havent found an address. I dont know how else to say it but I need the CORRECT answer, everyone disagrees! Thanks!

I have an old mac ibook m2453, and the clock will not save the correct time, in the help menu it said that it means that the mac needs a new “back up Battery” I am well aware it needs a new regular battery, but is that the same thing as a backup battery?
