pinkkitten asked: Okay so I don’t know a lot about cars so I need some help. I just replaced the alternator and the battery in my truck and it is still showing a low battery on the gauge and the battery light is lit up on the dashboard. What else could be the problem?

Gabby asked: We have put a charger on the car and the charge holds while the car is off. But when driving the car the battery drains in less than an hour. The alternator has been tested and shows to be good. The new battery has been tested and shows to be good. The head connectors for the battery have been changed. The problem is still occurring. What could the problem be?

marknluz asked: I know when a new battery is needed so I’m looking for other answers. My FIREX 12000 series CO/Fire detector beeps only a month after replacing the battery(beeps once every 60 seconds). Sometimes it seems to take a break from beeping. It is 1 in a connected series of 7 in the entire house - AC with battery backup. It is the one closest to the kitchen.

azmomma2001 asked: I just had to have a brand new alternator and battery (best one sold - or at least most expensive - at Sears Auto which was the only shop open this weekend when car broke down). At night with lights on the battery ranges from 11.8 volts when at idle to 12.5 while driving. During the day the battery ranges from 12.2 volts to 13.1 volts. I’ve been told this is too low (especially the night voltage) with brand new alternator & battery. Could there be another problem?

Freedom asked: Hello,
I am working making a battery backup setup usually called a UPS (uninterruptible power supply) using a power inverter, a car battery and a battery charger.
I am likely going to use http://cgi.ebay.com/OSP-1500W-PURE-SINE-WAVE-POWER-INVERTER-DC-AC_W0QQitemZ350267893228QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item518d97e5ec this inverter. It delivers pure sine wave power which is what I need as I am going to be using this to power electronics such as a computer and a projector. I am a little lost on which battery charger would be best though. I’ve seen something called a ‘battery tender jr’. But I don’t know if that would be best.
It sounds ideal. What I’ve learned is that I probably want a float charger with an option of either manually or automatically once in a while charging the battery to it’s maximum for a few hours to enable longevity in the batteries life.
Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks!
I don’t think I understand your answer. It sounds likely that we aren’t on the same page as to how this is set up. Plugged into an outlet (120v)is a battery maintainer, it is then connected (12v) to a battery. The battery (12v) is connected to a power inverter, and then the inverter powers devices(120v).
