Ian asked: I also have a wind turbine or windmill that has about 20 somthing volts or lower (not more than 23. and lower) the watch battery is 3 volts. If i give it one good turn while the wind turbine is connected to it will it charge back up or more than one turn or will it just destroy it.

maverick asked: Hello every one !!
I need to run 2 ceiling fans+2 Tube Lights + one 22′ TV for at least three hours ( with out power )
There are lot of ambiguity’s in choosing 800 VA UPS or Inverter + 135 Ah Battery.
help me out in choosing the appropriate backup solution for my home, would be helpful if you can clearly differentiate with reasons.
Thanks a lot.

baughbe.geo asked: Just curious and want to know if this is about right. Voltage goes up in series, so to reach 117 volts, you would need 13 9-volt batteries in series. Given a rating of 500 milliamphours per battery and amps go up in parallel, and a 500 watt power consumption on my desktop, then with P=V*I or I =P/V resulting in 55.5 amps or 111* 0.5 amps so you’d need 111 parallel blocks of 13 batteries in series or 1443 batteries total to run the computer for about an hour. Correct? (Don’t ask me why I want to know this, I’m really not sure myself)
Yes I know this is DC not AC. A backup unit has DC batteries and a transformer, I am omitting the transformer bit. Also the 9-volts are rated 500 milliamphours (0.5 amps for one hour) approximately. I wouldn’t actually do this, too expensive anyway even with a bulk order discount!

mdrali2001 asked: hi
here a good friend of mine suggested an interesting thing about UPS.
he said that wee can take two wires from UPS and connect them with a big BATTERY and it will give us backup for more then 6 hour’s.
my question is can it be possible for 12.v UPS to charge a big BATTERY.
if yes then how much time it will take to charge it ?
any other suggestions from your side to use ups with big BATTERY in the place of inverter.
warm regards
Ali

travelbug7 asked: I need a power converter to travel overseas. Is it safe to plug a surge protector into the converter and then plug my laptop into the surge protector? Can I use more than one outlet at the same time on the surge protector without causing any problems?

Nadia asked: I just moved into my dorm room and realized the electrical outlet on my side of the room is occupied by the AC window unit. I’ve heard that plugging window units into a surge protector with other electronic devices plugged in is dangerous. Should I use the surge protector for this or try to find another outlet?
