ol_skater_boy asked: Someone told me that hooking it up to a TV (large screen) reduces the battery life significantly! Anyone know if that’s true?

Sambo! asked:
If you push the button on a surge protector to turn it off, is it the same as unplugging it from the wall outlet?

jessica9874 asked:
My husband and I just bought a new LCD television, with a “special” surge protector to cut down on “bad electricity” which is supposed to prolong the life of our tv. Any ways, the “special” surge protector has three prongs and our wall outlet only has two prongs. I have another surge protector that will work in a two prong outlet; so I plugged that one in and plugged my “special” surge protector into it. I only plan on plugging in about 5 things so I know I will not over load the outlet, but am I going to hurt my tv? Also does this defeat the purpose of the “special” surge protector?

lukaslundgreen asked: Very weird problem. We just got a new receiving, new TV, new sound system. When we are watching something (TV, DVD, or anything else), sometimes these really pronounced lines will appear on the TV. The onset of these lines does not correspond to anything that I can tell. When the show up, we haven’t changed channels, changed inputs, changed volume, or anything like that. This is the weird part. We’ve found that turning our powered subwoofer off, and then back on again causes them to immediately go away. And then there aren’t any lines for awhile, and then they’ll start up again. I have tried switching out S-video cables, power cables, switching power outlets, even using a 600-wat $150 battery backup to power the whole system just in case it was because of a dirty electrical current coming from the walls. NOTHING HAS WORKED. I have NO idea what to try next…
PLEASE HELP!!!

I know next to nothing about what to look for. We recently purchased a 50″ plasma tv, a surround sound home theater system and a blu ray player. My husband is going nuts saying that we need a surge protector. Can you recommend a good one for these electronics?

tricolore_21 asked:
I bought a 26″ LCD at futureshop, and the sales associate told me I should buy a power bar that has a clean filter and surge protector because it’ll protect my tv and improve picture quality. Is this really necessary (it cost 120$ plus tax CDN) … Should I return it and get a regular power bar for 5 bux and then just invest in better hi-def cables?

Queen of Beer asked:
I bought a new lcd tv and got a really expensive surge protector so it doesn’t ever blow up. It’s all hooked up and working, but the surge protector has a connection for the cable to run through that instead of directly from the wall into the cable box. I presently have the cable cord going from the wall to the cable box, but want to hook it up from the wall to the surge protector so it is protected. My question is, do I need 2 cables to do this? One from the wall to the surge protector and one cable from the surge protector to the cable box? Thanks!
You guys are awesome - thanks!!
