Before buying my son a computer I asked a friend in the computer industry to recommend a reliable brand. He mentioned Acer and I have no complaints.
I have a Sony, it was expensive but has been very reliable and support and set-up was excellent. STEVE S

For full sized Windows laptops, Lenovo is generally the most highly regarded, with Toshiba in second. Apple laptops are more expensive but even better, whether you run the Mac OS or use Windows instead. Josh

I will go for acer. Because it will cost you much less with the same specifications. Toshiba, Dell and Sony are charging for their names also. All the inside hardwares are more or less the same in all brands. apple2005

DELL laptops are built stronger than HP, either one will work for you. I suggest you take a look on Sony and Toshiba laptops, both of them are very good (I have experience with all four and now I am using Sony laptop and HP desktop). Scott P

You might want to consider apple, but then again, it depends on what you want from your laptop. Apple’s more to multimedia stuff like graphics design, music editing and fashionability. Apple’s been known to have a reputation for problems nevertheless.
Otherwise, i would recommend HP. its good for everyday use and is an all rounder, quite reliable, a bit more expensive than other brands. Dell’s a cheaper alternative, but a bit less reliable. Pinky
