Does Lithium-ion battery expire?
Feisling asked:
I plan to keep my Smartphone for a while and I want to buy a battery for backup. I wanted to buy the battery NOW since it might not be available in the market in the next few years. The question now is… DOES UNUSED LITHIUM-ION BATTERY EXPIRE?

They will expire eventually (3 years or so). This doesn’t mean that they won’t work at all, just not as well as when they were new. I wouldn’t worry about not being able to find the battery in the future. You should be able to get them for many years to come.
