Electrical outlets in 2 rooms stopped working after water spilled on a surge protector. How do I fix them?
Monte asked:
My kid spilled water on her surge protector while playing on her computer. The computer immediately shut off, along with (apparently) all the outlets in her room and the room next to hers. GFCI’s and Breakers all not tripped. GFCI’s reset (although none of the outlets are GFCI’s). The lights in the rooms still work. Any ideas? Or should I just call an electrician?

Did you check the main circuit breaker box to see if it through the switch over. Check all other rooms outlets for resets too.
If all fails then call an electrician.

Sounds like one receptacle circuit.
(Maybe AFCI in new construction.)
Highly unlikely that any damage was done
to the system.
(No Jan ,it couldn’t possibly be the main.)
Best guess;
Disconnect that surge protector. Then check that all
those breakers have been reset.
The protector may still be leaking current and re-tripping the breaker concerned.

You will need to determine if the water has be dried up or it will not work. Chances are there is still water in an outlet that is causing the gfci to stay in the off position.
You could go to home depot and pick up a cheap sensor to find out if there is power at the outlet box but not coming from the outlet.
Good luck

The outlets are GFCI protected, wired in series, but not labeled.
They feed off a GFCI outlet in a bathroom, the kitchen, or possibly any other protected circuit in the house.
You must check EVERY GFCI in the house and every GFCI breaker in the box.
