How can I figure out what is wrong with my sump pump battery backup?

battery backup
Melissa asked:

The system is new, only about three weeks old. It is a Basement Watchdog brand sump pump/ battery backup system combined. It has worked fine and tested fine when it was installed. For no apparent reason last night the alarm went off. I silenced/reset the alarm, and the backup pump ran as it was supposed to, though a little loud. About 8 hours later, the alarm went off again. When I reset this time, the backup ran but did not pump. Happened again about an hour later, same results. The main pump is working fine. The battery is brand new - no corrosion - and all connections are secure. The guide that comes with the pump does not troubleshoot issues like this, just says to replace the pump. It isn’t even a month old, though, so I don’t want to go pay another $200 for a new one. Any suggestions?

Get the installer back to sort it out if its only three weeks old and if its a DIY job ring the manufacturers technical help line and ask the questions. pipe strangler
