Actually if your looking for just a temporary heater back up, I am guessing in case of power failures, one of the best bets is to look for a computer UPS. They will charge themselves back up when the power is fine and have a huge range of size and price. The length they last will depend on your heater wattage and how often the heater turns on of course. Your looking at a price between about $25-$200 depending on the size of backup. Before anyone starts, I know that you can also get much larger ones that cost thousands of dollars, but I don't think that is the price range most of us are looking for in a backup item for a heater.
