How much water is needed to damage a surge protector?
Paper Boy asked:
i had someone over and the person went over with a cup of water and dangled it over my surge protector and i am afraid of water dripping onto it. i did not here any crack, smell smoke and everything connected to it works fine but i wanted to know if a couple of drops of water would damage it or would it take a lot more? i have one of those monster surge protectors that filter power.

a surge protector work like a breaker box if there’s a problem it kicks off no damage even if it gets soaked in most cases it will just kick off and once its dry will work just fine

It sounds like you are safe. However when any electronics are energized even a drop of water in the wrong place can cross contacts on the small board inside. Most are protected enough from accidental drops and whatnot so that it should never happen. But this does not mean its a go to use outdoors or in wet locations.
