I have a desperate computer problem please help?
girlzrock4evah asked:
We had a thunderstorm two days ago. The top of my Mac got hit by one small and one large lightning bolt. It was making a loud fan noise, but now after I tried pluging it in to different outlets, the loud fan noise stopped. We have a battery backup with surge protection, but that’s not going to help us if it gets struck from the window. What is wrong with my computer and what can we do to fix it?

If the computer physically got hit by lightning, then everything is probably fried.
If the surge came in through the power lines, then the power supply (and maybe some other parts) is dead. You can try getting a new power supply and see if that fixes it, or take it into a shop. Madman6510

You need to call AppleCare at 1-800-APL-CARE and talk to them.
The warranty (if it’s still under warranty) probably won’t cover the repairs but your homeowner’s insurance should.
You should also call a contractor immediately and find out why that happened because there is no way that should be possible. Ed D

Was it hit by a lightning twice and you are concerned about the noise?
It will be a miracle it didn’t melt down.
You can not do anything, more likely it got fried (all of it).
You can’t claim insurance because lightnings are classified under “act of god”. Stormende
