Lead acid battery life is poor, though 3-5 years is more normal than 18 months.   Are you using it a lot?   Lead acid likes steady, moderate warmth of about 20C - in an office is OK.   But if it's not a sealed battery, I certainly wouldn't have it in a building.</description>
