Is it better to connect the coaxial/satellite cable from the wall to a surge protector or directly to the TV?
Deck asked:
I have a fairly high-end Philips surge protector made for home theatre, yet I’m curious if it is transfering the signals correctly from the satellite to my HDTV.

My guess would be to try the surge protector first then to the TV, and then try directly from the wall directly to the TV, and see if there is any signal degradation between the two. And choose the one that has the better picture quality. If there is little or no picture difference then I would definitely go with the surge protector first , you then will be protecting your investment in your TV.

If you don’t have any issues while hooking it up through the power bar then leave it that way, as you can certainly get spikes along that connection that could cause damage. The problem is though that even on so called ‘high end’ power bars, I have had problems with signal interference 9/10 times, so usually I bypass the power bar.
