Is it safe to use electric with fault wiring detected and power surge protector?
Mr. Questionair asked:
I recently found out that i have fault wiring in my house by using the power surge protector i just bough. It showed the red light indicating for fault wiring. As right now all the electric in my house still work fine and it has been for 5 years now… so is it okay to continue using it the way they are? Will the power surge protector still protect surge as it suppose to even if it detech fault wiring? Can anyone tell me what’s the possible outcome with fault wiring?

what does the documentation of the surge protector say about the red light? does it indicate the ground wire is missing? that is one possibility.
In that case, the surge protector will not do anything.
But your appliances can present a shock hazard if an internal short develops, so you should get this fixed.
But it’s also possible the hot and neutral are reversed, again, read the docs to see what the light indicates.
Also, Try the surge protector in various outlets to see if the problem is throughout the house or just at the one outlet. The latter, it’s easy to fix.

The problem is most likely that your hot and neutral wires are reversed, or there’s no ground. It could be a safety issue. Have an electrician check it out. (The wiring should never have passed inspection if the wires are reversed, or if no ground was installed.)
