Is there such thing as a battery backup for a computer?

battery backup
Your Highness asked:

I recently got a desktop, i’ve been using a laptop for the past few years.

I am already sick of the electricity flickering for like one second and shutting off my computer in the process while i’m in the middle of something.

Is there some sort of battery I can buy that’ll keep my computer from turning off during these 1 second power outages? If there is, what’s it called and where can I get one?

Yes, its called UPS (Uninterpretable Power Supply.) You can buy it at any computer store and on a million sites on the Net.

You can buy 120 or 240 volt generators at Canadian tire for about 200 dollars, or try a surge protector outlet for about 50 dollars.

Yes, it’s called a UPS. You can buy them any place that sells computers, probably even Staples and Office Depot. You can also buy them at many places online.

These aren’t really designed to let your computer run for a long time on batteries, but they will make it immune to short power outages like the kind you describe.

It’s best if you can get one that has software for your computer that automatically saves your files and shuts it down if the power goes out too long when you aren’t at the computer.
