Laptop Battery: why does my laptop only charge when the adapter is placed in a particular way?
yellowsuperhero asked:
Also, the battery life seems to be fading, I have had the laptop for about 2.5 years and use it everyday. Is this an adapter or battery problem? Or both? Can I have either repaired or do I need to buy a new one? Suggestions?

chargers often short out over time from wear and tear. it’s ok. just get another one off ebay.

Your battery may be malfunctioning, or there is some type of “short” in it. It is usually the adapter. They should go for about 5 years, at least mine did, it is an HP pavilion, an older version. I’d take it to a place called Central Computers, they are excellent. They do work for most of the companies where I live in the Silicon Valley, and they are reasonable. They are in San Jose, (if you aren’t), they can give you a referral where you live. Good Luck!!
