I am looking for a digital Camera, My Budget is around 180 to 220$ (8,000 to 12,000). I am not a professional photographer, jus looking for a hobby purpose. I am looking for one with good battery backup, nice image quality and good if it have image stabelizing functionality. Please suggest.

try canon A700 or A710.

I would recommend the Canon A550. It’s easy to use and not very big. It’s a 7 megapixel camera and has technology to reduce the effects of shakiness. It’s also in your price range. Just don’t forget to pick up an SD memory card. Digital cameras come with very little or no internal memory. You also may need rechargable batteries. You should ask the salesperson to see if you need to buy batteries, or if it comes with a rechargable battery.
If it doesn’t come with a rechargable battery, get them. Don’t buy disposable 1-time use batteries because you’ll end up spending a lot in the long run.

My suggestion is the cheap, but excellent, Canon A430 (or the new models A450/A460).

All of these answers are good except one. The consensus is Canon. I have two of them. Rather than give you a model number this is my advice. Look in the Sunday sales papers and see what canon cameras are available in your price range. Purchase the one that offers the most features for the money. If you can get one of the Canon PowerShot models, I would recommend it, however, if any canon is in your price range, you would be wise to purchase it over any other brand,

You might consider the Fugifilm Finepix A500. Should give you about 400 shots on a set of rechargeable, excellent 5X7s when enlarged. Beach Camera in NJ via internet has it for $95-.It’s a 5 megapixel camera. Only drawback I can see is a 3 second delay between shots. No image stabilizer.
Don’t forget memory card still must be bought.
