The bios would only lose its data if it was receiving no power at all. As you replaced the battery there is obviously still a fault here. You then describe extensive physical damage to the motherboard. It may truly be time to replace the whole system as it would be more costly to repair the existing one. If you have a lot of valuable data on the HD you can remove it and install it as a slave in your new PC to recover the data.

If your motherboard is in this bad state(that you can see) ask yourself "what damage cant I see" Blown CMOS chip(s) for example. Think its time you commited this mobo to landfill.

What you describing only can cause if the bios battery is died. Since you saying that you put a new one and that didn't make any difference it could be there is a problem with circuit on you board that distribute power to the bios chip.
Try to remove battery again and look if the contact plate looks ok perhaps it's just need some cleanup.

Cheers, DS

The problem may not be in your BIOS. You indicated some damage to the system board. You may have a short which in turn is clearing the BIOS.

Are you sure you replaced the battery propery? If you keep your computer plugged in but turn off the computer, does it keep the proper date and time?

Some system boards have a jumper pin that is used to clear the CMOS. Are you sure this jumper is in the proper position?

Sorry but it doesn't sound good, the amount of repair required it would be far easier and not much more expensive to buy a new pc.
