Plugging a surge protector into a power strip?
Cupooterluvr asked:
I wanted to be able to use the switch outlet, but my computer’s surge protector covers up the other hole… Can I plug the surge protector into a power strip (the plug isn’t angled on the power strip) without overloading it? Nothing is changing about the arrangement of the plugs on the surge protector except that I’m plugging a lamp into the switch outlet.

It shouldn’t overload it, but do you really need to plug the surge protector into the power strip itself?
Power strips usually have some built-in surge protection anyway. But if you want the added protection of the surge protector, why not put it between the wall socket and the power strip, rather than putting it on the power strip? dalellll

As long as you aren’t putting anything else in the power strip, I would say you are fine. Mike

It should work.
However, you also might be voiding any protection warranty that your UPS might now offer.
It might also help if your light is an energy saving florescent bulb to draw less watts/amps.
You can try it out and see if your UPS starts beeping or not.
Good luck! desertcities
