I have 6 extensions in the house including a blue-tooth Uniden, for walking the dog! I only had 1 power-outage in them years...I get automatically switched over to my cell-phone...I use my Skype (SIP) account only abroad in Internet cafes, Its not truly VoIP but SIP provider! Before you do anything, go and check out several VoIP reviews, call up there customer service and see how long it takes them to answer the phone. Make sure they speak English. I used dslreports.com to choose my VoIP provider! They also have now lots of taxes and junk-fees...so watch that too!! I have VoIP for over 3 years now, and love it!
