Router battery backup?

battery backup
candice v asked:

I have local internet and vonage phone. I just had an alarm system put in. They said I should have a battery backup for the routers so when the power goes out, I don’t lose my alarm system. Do I need one for my internet router, and one for my vonage router? Where do I get them from? Are there different types/power supplies depending on you router? Please help!!

They probably mean a UPS (Uninterruptable Power source) you can buy them from your local bestbuy. XxMcshiversxX

Battery backup systems are just like the power strip you would use for any electronic equipment with a battery inside.

They are sold at best buy, staples, and so on. They cost anywhere from $50 to $200 depending on how big a batter you get. (The bigger the battery, the longer the time that it will keep the equipment running when the power goes out).

You can get the same type battery backup, or even use the same battery backup if the 2 devices are close enough.

I hope you realize that if the Internet goes down, then the alarm system can not make a phone call. It requires a connection to the Internet. Tech_rich

just buy high quality power strips and do not use power strips that are not UL certified .
