Battery Backup Guide

The battery in my APC Back_UPS Pro 650 is discharged - but I do NOT want to purchase another battery or UPS because the stand alone computer system it is protecting will no longer be used in a couple of months.

Will that UPS (with the discharged battery) still provide surge suppression. I do realize that without a working battery, it can no longer go on battery backup nor automatically shutdown the computer.

Ok I have a ES 550 APC Battery backup + surge protector. I have my computer plugged into it, printer, and mini air conditioner. All of a sudden my printer( which is connected to a portable outlet and then that is connected to my battery backup) stopped working and wont come on. The battery just keeps beeping but my computer is working ok that is connected to the battery? Did I overload it? also my friend connect her heater into a breaker and now her battery is beeping? I have a 600VA ups with a 100Ah battery. I merely get about two hours of backup when running on batteries at half the load. I had both the battery and UPS replaced under warranty and its the same.There is a scheduled power cut for exactly 2 hours everyday, so that gives 22 hours without any interruptions for the battery to charge which I believe should suffice .

The people at APC tell me that I should get atleast 4.5 hours of backup running at about half the load(300VA/~180 Watts) and 2 hours at full load(600VA/~360 watts). APC has load indicators to indicate the load when running on the batteries

I m totally clueless on what to do next ? The electrical appliances connected are just a couple of tubelights and fans.

How would I able to diagnose if something is wrong in the wiring configuration ? Thats the only thing left for me to diagnose, but where and how do I start ?

Any thoughts would be appreciated

i just had my apc battery backups out. Now there no light come on. I had check my wall outlet is good, check my power cord is good and also i had check the board inside the battery backups it since like there are power. But the light is not come on. Did anyone out there know what is wrong with it?

When selecting the Manufacturer, I receive this msg; “The UPS service could not access the specified Comm Port” The only option I have is COM3. I’m not sure I understand everything about my battery backup. This is the first time I’ve had UPS. In the past I’ve used a surge protector. The info that came with my battery (APC) is not of much use for anything.
I do have the USP cord attached.

I’ve recently got rid of my server cabinet. I used to have an APC Rackmount UPS mounted in the bottom. I now have it sat under a desk, but would like to tidy things up and stand it next to my servers, on it’s side.

Does anybody know if it’s OK to stand it on it’s side? Will it affect/harm the batteries?
