I was wondering if you can do this safely, because I think that it could be useful as a small backup power supply. Would this work with any other batteries? Thanks.

atomikmn asked: Just think most people have cordless phones in there homes. What happens when the power goes out for one reason or another (electrical fire, poweroutage, etc.) God forbid the power goes out when an intruder breaks in. with cordless phones the only thing you can do is through it at them! Now if the base of the phone had a small battery backup than you would be able to call 911 with no problem. I think this would be a great thing to have and I don’t know why they don’t have them know. I had a fire at my house resently and low and behold the phones did not work. I just think that the batteries have gotten much smaller and last longer it would be a great idea to persue this idea. thank you for your time. And please give me some credit fo the idea (although someone may have thought about it already) Thank you for your time.

Amma’s Child asked:
I have an HP iPAQ Pocket PC with two batteries. Whenever the main LiIon battery is low, I don’t know how to switch it to the backup NiMH battery. When I go to the Power settings for the battery, I don’t see any buttons or info regarding switching it. Does it happen automatically? Everytime the iPAQ was down to 20%, it would shut down completely. Then when I recharge it, it goes into “setup” mode, the programs that I had installed disappear. Why does this happen? Is this normal or is it faulty? The model I use is hx2110. Thanks!

I have 2 smoke detectors in my home that won’t stop chirping. It started last night when the power to my home cut on and off several times. They are hard wired into the ceiling (have a circuit breaker switch) as well as 9 volt battery backup power. I have turned the circuit breaker switch off and removed the battery and they still keep chirping. I finally had to take them off the ceiling completely. Any idea why this would be happening? I tested the batteries and they are charged. The batteries as well as the smoke detectors are only about a year old.

I have electric smoke detectors with battery backup. They started beeping a few days ago so I went out and purchased all new batteries to replace the old ones. They still beep. It’s not a constant beep….about every 30 seconds or so. I even used a vacum to make sure that there was no dust on the sensors. They are only a year old so it’s not that they are old. I’m at a loss. Can anyone help before I go crazy!!!!!!! Thanks!

I have a Texas Instruments TI-83 and I keep getting a low battery message even though I have changed out the batteries. Now it will come on ever now and then, but won’t stay on long. Could it be the backup battery that is low or is it junk now? I have owned it for 4 years without problems. Anyone have any suggestions?

christianpeterpumpkineater asked: I’ve recently got rid of my server cabinet. I used to have an APC Rackmount UPS mounted in the bottom. I now have it sat under a desk, but would like to tidy things up and stand it next to my servers, on it’s side.
Does anybody know if it’s OK to stand it on it’s side? Will it affect/harm the batteries?

sonicdruff asked:
I am a complete newbie to all this stuff. I have been told (thanks titan) that to downgrade, I need to use a Pandora Battery and Magic Memory Stick. What I need is a complete idiots guide to do this!! The videos I’ve seen about Pandora Batteries confuse me and I am totaly scared of bricking the PSP. It’s my son’s. He wants to use UMD Dumper2 to backup his games and wants the ability to run homebrew games and apps. Titan tells me there is a CFW3.80. I just want to run anything that will run UMD Dumper and homebrew games and not take too much away. Looking on the net, 3.40*LE is recommended but if CFW3.80 will do it, I would be happy to install it. Another worry I have is that I have read that TA-0082’s do not like running 1.50 and modifications have to be made??? I take it my son has a TA-0082 as inside his UMD door you can see IC1003 stamped on the motherboard. Anyone who has time to help a complete idiot would be welcomed!!!
