I got the new iPhone 3g a couple weeks ago and I’ve experienced a few annoyances such as bad battery life, a slightly loose home button, had the white screen of death once, and multiple freezes/crashes. I’m thinking about going back into AT&T and getting a replacement, but I was just wondering about all of the data I have on my phone. Will I be able to restore an iTunes backup of my current iPhone onto a new one?

One plumber says it is unnecessary, another says he can install one for $1,200. Is that fair? Are there any other options that I am unaware of? Our current sump pump in the basement does not have a battery backup.

Neil asked: I purchased an extra battery for my Dell notebook computer, because it was very inexpensive with the purchase of the notebook. I expect that in a year or two, when my current battery doesn’t hold much of a charge anymore, I’ll want to use it, and make my current battery a spare.
What is the best way to store this battery for a year or two? It’s currently not being used, and I don’t expect to use it at all, except perhaps occasionally when I might need a backup battery. But more than likely it will go unused for the next year or two.
