Battery Backup Guide

Whenever I move the cursor over the battery icon on my screen, it will say “plugged in, charging”. However, the battery charge never goes past 2-3%. I had to get a new AC adapter when my old one quit working, and this still hasn’t solved the problem. Do I need to replace the battery? I’m hoping that there isn’t a bad connection in the motherboard. The laptop is a Dell Inspiron 1545.

battery backup for dell is 5 hrs approx and hp is 2 hrs.

dell is giving complete cover as warranty, they say even because of some accident the screen breaks or keyboard doesnt work because of spilling of water, they’ll replace it free of cost, thats not the case in hp, they’velimited warranty.
i’m a rough user. please give me some valid reasons about going for which brand in these 2,
suggest me if there are other brands in the same cost, viao costs 70000 for this config. hp, viao looke very good. dell looks like a box

I got a Dell Inspiron 630M Laptop last April. Mine is a 9-cell battery one. Initially I got about 4 - 6 Hrs of backup time, but now it doesn’t last more than 1 1/2 Hrs.
Is that the expected behavior? Or Should I go for replacement
as Dell offered one year warranty for that battery?
Do they replace this sort of battery for free, under warranty scheme?
