Why can you not hook freezer to surge protector?

I recently had a home inspection and was told that I can’t have my freezer hooked to a utility surge protector that ran through a hole in my drywall to the outer wall socket. They told me it was setup well, but that the power cord could cause an “electrical drywall fire”, I can’t find anything on the net about this. Any suggestions on this or thoughts. The house complex is the ones who drilled the hole, fire people says no????
