Sarah asked: I have an old mac ibook m2453, and the clock will not save the correct time, in the help menu it said that it means that the mac needs a new “back up Battery” I am well aware it needs a new regular battery, but is that the same thing as a backup battery?

CRP asked: My cousin and I were debating over this last night. I unplug my laptop once it is fully charge and he said that leaving it plugged in after it is charged isn’t what damages the battery but it is charging it before the battery is low. What do you think/know? I am a college student and would like this (brand new) battery to last me for at least the next four years.

Min asked: I’m thinking of buying a new battery for my laptop because I just recently added another gb of ram which shorts the life of my battery and I want another one as a backup. Can anyone tell me which one has a long charge for oh maybe more than 3-4 hours if I use high performance, etc battery settings?
Comp Stats:
Windows Vista (32 bit I think)
3 GB Ram
Acer Aspire 5630
2 years old

I have a Compaq presario V2600 which is barely couple of yrs old. But the battery has always given me trouble. It does not last more than 10 minutes. Is it something wrong with it or is that the normal duration of backup time. If I were to go for a new laptop battery, what are the specs I need to look for and where would I find a good battery for my laptop.

J L asked:
The first one didn’t last that long, so now my replacement battery has arrived. What are some tips for extending its life and usage? Should I get rid of the old battery since it’s “nearing the end of its usable life,” or should I keep it around for backup? Should I keep the new one in and keep the laptop plugged in whenever I’m at home, to constantly keep recharging it, or should I let it drain almost empty before recharging? Thanks for your tips!
