Can you plug a surge protector into a voltage converter?

Now since i just bought the converter, is it safe to plug a power strip type of surge protector into the converter? My goal is to maximize the amount of outlets I can use.

Looking to purchase a Generator - solar/battery powered, preferably a combination - plug-in backup power?
