Abbey B asked:
I have been using my computer on the same circuit for about a year now with no issues. The other day when I started it, about 10 minutes into using it, I hear a “pop” noise. My computer had tripped a circuit. I went to the box and reset it, and then I smelled smoke. I looked at my surge protector (it is about a $40 surge protector) and the light was still green (good) instead of red (fault). My computer will not turn on now. Hopefully it is just the power supply?

mct_ed asked: I just recently had a brown out at my house and my pc shut down. when i got home i could turn my pc on but with no display or post. so i replaced the motherboard and CPU and memory. the pc still does the same thing so i just ordered a new power supply and videocard. i was wondering could the dying battery back up cause this? my battery back up just in the past 3 days has been getting really warm and my mom noticed today it smells like sulphur from it.
anyone got any ideas?

I usually run my laptop with power supply plugged in most of the time…someone told me that this can reduce the backup power of the laptop batteries…
Is it true?

Mazer.McB asked: hey, well I got this battery back up for my computer, called “Back-UPS ES 500″, im just wondering, does it matter if i leave this box in the carpet? i know that if you leave your computer in carpet, the power supply gets messed up and dies (its happened to me a lot before lol) but i dont know if the carpet will do the same thing to my backup battery
in case anybody wonders what my backup looks like, here it is:
