Battery Backup Guide

I have a CyberPower battery backup and power surge box for my computer. The problem is when there is a bad storm and the power goes out and back on real quickly the whole system shuts down. I thought the battery backup was to stop this from happening. No lights are on the box except “power on” so there doesn’t seem to be a problem.

Why is this happening and do these boxes wear out?

I want to buy protection for some high end DJ equipment, and was wondering if it was worth it. A surge protector i need would cost around $25, as opposed to one with a power conditioner in it for ~$100.
Is it worth the extra $75?

The guy at Best Buy this afternoon told me that an extension cord results in wasted energy and it was better to buy a surge protector with a long cable (more expensive) rather than hook up an extension cord to a surge protector with a short cable (less expensive option). Assume the total cable length is the same. He didn’t hide the fact that he wasn’t sure of his physics but to me it just doesn’t work.

My garage only has two wall outlets and they are in two inconvenient places. I want to know if it is okay to plug the extension cord into the wall outlet but have a power strip/surge protector in the other end.

when we moved in the house we have the washer and dryer downstairs in the basement.. when we turned the dryer on there would be a minor power surge through the house. we got 2 window ac units like 2 weeks ago. and like 3 or 4 days ago we had a power surge and well its still surging!!! nothing is at full throttle, we have to have multiple things off for 1 thing to work…my cable modem doesnt even have enough power to generate the internet (its a battery backup modem and when theres not enough power it dont give internet cause it runs off battery, and its running off battery cause the outlet isnt giving up enough juice for it to recognize it) everything electrical takes times to build up…our ac units, fans, everything besides TVs they turn on and off just fine..but everything is unplugged right now so im able to use the internet to ask FOR YOUR HELP, im not rich so plz just tell me whats wrong

It stopped working and still under warrenty would cost a fortune to replace battery or send back for replacement or repair because it is heavy. Can I replace with something more reasonable in price and still have similar protection ?
