The Kidde combo Smoke/CO detector that is interconnectable I want only comes as a hardwired detector with battery backup. Is it possible to just use it as a battery operated unit without connecting it to my house wiring? I assume the answer is yes since the battery is backup power.

I have 2 smoke detectors in my home that won’t stop chirping. It started last night when the power to my home cut on and off several times. They are hard wired into the ceiling (have a circuit breaker switch) as well as 9 volt battery backup power. I have turned the circuit breaker switch off and removed the battery and they still keep chirping. I finally had to take them off the ceiling completely. Any idea why this would be happening? I tested the batteries and they are charged. The batteries as well as the smoke detectors are only about a year old.

I have a hard wired smoke detector with battery back-up. The battery is getting hot any idea why?

The new smoke detector code in Michigan, I believe is to have both AC electric with backup battery smoke detectors in every room.

Anyway.. we are having a problem with the smoke detectors that we’ve just recently installed:…

Are they supposed to beep like every 5 mins or is this just some kind of phase?

Is this fixable, if so… how?

Also, could someone please get me a link to Michigan codes for smoke detectors?
