My electricity was really bad, No one could figure out for months I had surge protection,battery backup,dedicated plug still had problem with OS and all drivers corrupted. After a long battle I got SDG&E to finally put a monitor on meter to check after 3 tests for 1 week each problem bad neutral and really bad subpanel. Now I have elec. fixed but PC wont recover. Did a recovery,reinstall tried eveything.It ’s going back to HP for bench repair but I have done this many times before & it is still corruptedwhen I get it back. Now that elec. is fixed can it be repaired by HP and ever really completely work fine? I have had to replace 14 PC’s,2 monitors,TV’s,VCR’s,DVD players, a new refrigerator,digital camera,2 cell phones,3 sets of speakers,1000’s of lightbulbs,my nerves and now 2 PC’s are going in for bench repair. Will they need replacing? or are they fixable? Dont tell me how stupid I am because I already know that .I just couldnt find anybody to believe me.

Since using it the problems I’ve had before - computer not booting up when I turn it on until many, many attempts have not happened. I just bought it for battery backup in case of power outage and surge protection.

I’m wondering because I was considering getting a better quality PSU for (inside) my pc but it may not be necessary with this unit.

Maybe the transformer block that comes with my laptop already has the surge protection inside…if not, I would appreciate any suggestions of surge protector models/brands available for this purpose.

I have a Belkin brand surge protector/battery backup thing that my computer, monitor, printer, and home telephone charger are plugged in to.

There are eight outlets on this thing: four of them are labeled “Surge Protection”, while the other four are labeled, “Battery Back-up Plus Surge Protection”.

The outlets with the battery back-up do not work. I tried plugging things in to them, and those things did not receive any power.

Also, there is a button on the front of it that is labeled, “On/Off/Test”. There are two lights to the left of this button, labeled, “On Line” and “On Battery”. On the other side of the button are two more lights, labeled, “Overload” and “Replace Battery”. None of these lights or on.

I think this thing used to work, and at least one light was on, and if you held the button, it beeped, and the light turned off. You could turn it back on this way, too.

I don’t really know how to work this thing and don’t know why it doesn’t work now, when it did before.

Help?
