blueyz0602 asked: We are purchasing the Innotek SD-2100 electric dog fence to contain our 30 lb. lab/husky mix. (We live on a busy road and she likes to zig-zag across the street!) I know that they have special lightning protection surge protectors made specifically for the dog fence, but I’m wondering if a regular electronics surge protector would do the same thing.
Thanks
“electric” fence meaning invisible dog fence (buried underground)

The Computer Geek/Vet Tech asked:
I have in my head that it increases the risk of starting a fire. I’m not sure where I heard it, or if it’s even true. Nothing to long, maybe just a 25ft cable (from the wall) hooking to a 6 strip surge protector.

I lost a tv and a computer on 2 separate occasions, both were plugged in to a separate surge protector. If I plug in one protector and then plug another one in to the surge protector in the wall then plug my pc in, will it help protect it more?

Monte asked:
My kid spilled water on her surge protector while playing on her computer. The computer immediately shut off, along with (apparently) all the outlets in her room and the room next to hers. GFCI’s and Breakers all not tripped. GFCI’s reset (although none of the outlets are GFCI’s). The lights in the rooms still work. Any ideas? Or should I just call an electrician?

Sambo! asked:
If you push the button on a surge protector to turn it off, is it the same as unplugging it from the wall outlet?

I have a fairly high-end Philips surge protector made for home theatre, yet I’m curious if it is transfering the signals correctly from the satellite to my HDTV.

bse48 asked:
My laptop, printer, etc are plugged into a strip surge protector. If I turn the surge protector off in an effort to save money, will it still protect my equipment? I would like to turn everything off at night and turning the strip off would be convenient but I want to still have my electronic equip protected.
