In fact it should increase it. Good luck finding an battery for a PC that will last more than 2hrs. Windows initiates a write to the HD every 4-5 seconds which keeps the HD in constant spin. More ram=Less writing but it still does it. Either way... 6 cell batterys are 2hrs, 9 cells are 3hrs, 12 cells are 4hrs. Turn off your wireless, bluetooth, don't use your optical, turn the brightness down all the way, turn off the paging file and you might get an extra hour. More ram will not shorten the life of the runtime. In fact it should increase it.
