what is surge protection and battery backup?

Surge protection protects electronics from high spikes in voltage for example if the electricity jump from 120 volt to 500 volt it can damage electronics. It also protects in case of a lightning strike which can also damage electronics. Battery Backup provides temporary power to whatever is plugged in to it usually for a few hours.
