I had to go through 3 supposedly brand new DVRs also with Adelphia before I finally got one that worked. The signal booster may also be a contributing factor. That 8 way splitter could be a nuisence too. I would first try to remove the Booster and the splitter, just to see if it makes a difference. My Adelphia tech told me that these can damage DVRs and cable in general. DVR's are relatively new and I don't think they have all the bugs worked out. If you still have the problem after eliminating the other items, I'd get the unit replaced. Probably a faulty DVR.
