whats the best way to measure & check the specific gravity of a U.P.S (inverter) battery ? which would give the accurate & appropriate result ?
1) when the batteries are charging and the unit is on
2) when the batteries are giving the backup and the unit is on
3) when the batteries are connected (whether they are charged up or discharged) to the (inverter) and the inverter (unit) is off.
4) when the batteries are not connected (whether they are charged up or discharged) to the (inverter) and the inverter (unit) is off.
thanx
but how can i get to know that my batteries are charged ? My U.P.S (inverter) doesnt have this utility to tell that the batteries are charged or not ?
so how can i get to know this ?

most of these batteries are sealed lead calcium gel cells, if that is the case, you cant.
the best way to do this is when the batteries are charged and disconnected. Rorschach

1
Perform a specific gravity battery test by inserting the syringe from the temperature-adjusted hydrometer and extracting the electrolyte (battery acid).
2
Read the gravity level. Record the result.
3
Return the electrolyte to the battery.
4
Repeat this procedure for each battery cell.
