I have an APC battery backup/surge protector, obviously, and I’ll be using my computer and the solid tone beep will just start going off. Power didn’t go out, the light on the battery backup is still on, the only connections i’m using are the 3 with surge protection. the ones without surge protection aren’t touched. anyone know whats happening? or how I avoid it?

Not sure, I haven’t run thru this problem. I would advise you to call your local Batteries Plus to see if they know what’s happening.

Is it a fairly old battery backup? It’s possible the internal batteries are getting old so it can no longer keep a charge. I had something like that happen to me before.

I’d recommend checking the APC website for diagnostic beep codes for your model, though it should be standard for most models.

You may be experiencing under-current, where the battery actually kicks in for a brief period. If you don’t have lights dimming issues for millisecond outage issues, it might be the battery which nees replacement. In that case, a red icon with a cross on the battery should go off.
